2011 : DOMESTICITY II, PULSE PLAY>, MIAMI

For Pulse Play> Lucie Fontaine created a domestic environment in which she organized a video program including videos by Dor Guez, Ciprian Mureşan and Daniella Isamit Morales that are themselves dealing with contents related to domesticity. The environment she presented in Miami resembled a common living room, with direct quotation to the famous first scene of The Simpsons. Here the visitor was invited to sit down and enjoy the shows on TV, which is in fact was the video program selected by Lucie Fontaine.

Furthermore Lucie Fontaine has requested that all furniture would be bought at Ikea, and in a way this environment is not only made to present the video program at the fair but also as an artwork itself, an instruction piece of sorts, where she made a list of items (a sofa, a coffee table, a TV, fake plants, etc.) to be bought exclusively at the Swedish department store.

This project is part of “Domesticity” a series of exhibitions conceived by Lucie Fontaine. The first iteration was part of the Prague Biennale 5 and the third part will be presented at Marianne Boesky in New York as part of a larger project called “Estate.”
